Listen at the end of the day use a med to trade safely. You can't go wrong this route.

Don't listen to this guy. If you feel like you need a Med, request one. It'll save you in the long run. Recording your trades helps heaps also.

it's diff now though, as back then the meds held the actual item in-game

Med don’t even join your game anymore
They just hold FG now and expect things to go smoothly.
I’ve had a couple of people afk after getting their item in a medded trade and had to wait a pretty decent amount of time to move on because of all the checks and balances the new method requires lol

I haven't used a med in ages, but they used to join the game and receive the item.

It may not be the case for some games, but since d2r came out.
You send the fg through a 3rd party and I am pretty sure it doesnt even go to the mediators account ( i dont use a mediator often, i think i did it like 2 or 3 times ). Then you need to wait for the guy who got the items from you to confirm to the mediator that they got the items. It’s a whole mess of trust in the two people in the game. In the 2 or 3 times I used a med, I had to wait like 15-20+ minutes to get the fg after the trade was done.

I guess the influx that d2r brought after losing users after 20 years of the game being out that the mediators simply couldnt handle
Manually going into games and mediating.
