Just wondering. I've never been to this site before the join date you see to the left. So far the community has mostly impressed me with some people helping me to get started and every trade so far going smoothly. But today I got a PM from someone referring to one of my trade threads where I mentioned being new, and they said "are you really new or a banned alt?"

I said "I am" and that it might be a bit rude of a question (since I feel like there's an assumption that I'm an alt of a banned account)

"Oh I was gonna give you fg but with that attitude, bye!" (I don't think any part of them realized suggesting someone could be evading a ban is not the right attitude to have....)

There's going to be some bad apples in any community, but it seems like assuming anyone who claims they're new could be lying about it is not a great policy. I guess this is a PSA. Most of those i've talked to have been great, and this community seems way better than my perception of it based purely on people talking about it on the Blizzard forums. I never asked anyone for anything (outside of actual trading of course lol) so I just want people to be aware that how you ask a question matters. :)

Seems like you two just got off on the wrong foot. Doesn't sound too accusatory, just breaking the ice and trying to converse with a conversation starter maybe.

But yes, a lot of traders are weary of that because there's a lot of new users who scam. However, it is not your fault, just the nature of the beast

Its not even new users that get accused... I have been accused plenty, BNP is bad about anyone that they don't fully know. I mean, i just changed my username and was getting harrassed being called multi. Had to add the tidbit into my Sig box just so people remember....

Its just the nature of the beast anymore, don't want to trade first or get scammed? just use mediation....

Welcome my dude and If you have any questions DM me.

Welcoming not , Abo has been around a while lol.

I had to deal with this in Overwatch. Someone who recognized my username (and didn't like me) from an MMORPG I play started harssing me in open competitive, and got some friends with him to camp me on the opposite team and throw my games on my team. Which is why my handle is now something common to hopefully avoid that happening again- once I changed names the harassment stopped, proving it was targeted based on my name....
