I don't know a whole lot about duping but I was under the impression that after you modify the item it becomes perm ie runewords. I don't know how this could happen. Ask the person you bought them from?

try to get proof. time stamp your char when you leave then rejoin a game fast enough so you couldnt have moved it anywhere. try to catch it on video then make a scammer accusation

another thing could be is the duper had rolled the item into a runeword
thus giving it an id
then dupeing it this is a no no on all dupers
item should be a virgin base to be able to be duped with ought having the risk of poofing runewords.

sometimes even if you hel the item and attempt to dupe it. this will cause that to happen.
