It's a graphical glitch. It resulted from the switch to the expansion Lightsabre, which became an elite (elite items were not present in classic) phase blade. The updated graphic used the same one that the old Azurewrath Crystal Sword used. However, the graphic for the new Lightsabre, a phase blade, took up six spaces of inventory space. An elegant blade only takes up three. The new graphic phase blade 6-inventory space graphic was applied to both the new phase blade version and the old elegant blade version. This caused an irregularity since the graphic takes up six spaces but the actual physical item took up 3. The result was a graphical glitch. And there it is as you see it. It would fall off the edge of the screen, like in this screenshot my friend took a couple of years ago:
It's similar to how Blood Raven's charge, the unique Matriarchal bow, does not fit the graphic right. However, the old 08 Lightsabre was affected far more dramatically than Blood Raven's Charge, and, quite hilariously.
