Make some weird noise upstairs so he goes and looks, or wait till he leaves and isn't near the door. Run downstairs and out the door then wait a second then come back in.

Lol well I live in a tiny ass house so he will hear me run downstairs and outside, but I'm sure I will end up having to do something like that
