Guide to making a successful spam thread
by

What is a spam thread?
A spam thread is a thread made on a forum where the subject matter of the thread differs from that of the forum.
Often they are designed to be humorous, and in general keep morale of the forum up.
Things to know
Difference between trolls and spammers
- Many JSP users believe that a
user who excessively posts is automatically a troll. This is not true for all cases, however. A spammer is a user
that actively participates in spamthreads, early bumps and often '+1' in other areas of the forum. Their main goal is
to increase their post count. A troll, often in addition to the traits of a spammer, causes disruption in forums via
flaming, pretending to be retarded, tricking newbs into thinking their horrid items / names are godly, etc.
60+ Replies
- Threads made in trade forums automatically close after 60 replies. There are rare cases where
there have been more than 60, but these are very uncommon.
JSP Moderators
- Moderators rarely close spam threads. This is because they are too busy, nobody reports
the spam thread, or there are no mods online; however, occasionally a moderator stays on a particular subforum for
a period of time and rapidly closes spam threads. Before making a spam thread it is a good idea to quickly scan the
'Active users on this forum' list beforehand. Beware: Some mods have taken to choosing the 'Do not appear on online
lists' option when logging in to ninja close threads like crazy bitches.
Minimods
- These people will spam your spam topic demanding you cease posting irrelavant topics in the trade
forum. Ignore them as they have no power.
This sounds like fun, but won't I get warns?
No! JSP moderators will always give you a verbal warning before dishing out warns for minor offenses such as
spamming. Besides, warns have no effect on your trading rep and they are cool!
So how do I make a spam thread?
Creating your spam thread is a three step process. Firstly you need to decide what kind of spam thread to make.
Types of spam thread
+1 Thread
- No subject matter. Designed to increase post count only.
Announcement
- When you want to let JSP know something important. Common topics include 'I quit',
'It's my birthday' or 'I have xx posts'. Usually these turn into
+1 threads
fairly quickly.
Rage/QQ Thread
- When you are mad at the JSP system, mad at the moderators, mad because you got
scammed or mad because of something else, you can vent your rage through a
Rage/QQ thread
.
PvP Related Thread
- When you want to show JSP the results of a FT5 you just participated in, a screen
shot of you clearing a pub, screenshots proving that another user uses mods or similar. Usually the poster will taunt
their opponent and encourage others to do so. Can be coupled with a
Rage/QQ thread
for the loser of the FT5.
Donation Thread
- Either giving or asking for forum gold donations. Usually these turn into
+1 threads
fairly quickly.
Funny threads
- Post jokes or funny pictures and invite other users to post their own.
Warn Thread
- When a user wants to receive warn they can post porn / gore etc in a
warn thread.
Secondly, you need to choose an appropriate title. Try to include a summary of the subject matter (where applicable)
in the thread title. For example, if I was posting a thread about how I beat Wray in a FT5, I would use the title 'Wray
Slammed 5-0 Was Gd', with a description of 'Get Good Ez Pk'.
Lastly, you need to add content to the initial post. This is very easy for +1 threads, as you can simply post what ever
you want; but if you have chosen a thread with content, you will have to decide relevant information to include. For the
above example, I would post screenshots of me beating Wray in the FT5, as well as taunting him about his bad PvP skills,
suggest that he should uninstall and encourage others to throw insults at him.
My spam threads fail. How can I make them better?
Often when rands post spam threads, they are unsuccessful. This is because the spammer body of JSP does not know of
your willingness to contribute to the spam scene and automatically don't click on your threads, or do not wish to be associated
with you. Do not be discouraged, there are many ways to increase publicity of your spam thread:
Bold/Red Title
- It costs 10 fg but everyone looks at a bold/red thread.
Lure users in
- A lure is the act of having a fraudulent title, stating that there is something desirable inside the thread
such as porn, free fg, etc.
Add symbols to title
- '~~~ Spam Thread ~~~' gets more views than 'Spam Thread'. Variation: Add spaces to the
title L I K E T H I S
Call out a well known user
- By asking a well known user to duel you, you are guaranteed to get many replies.
Ok, I just saw a spam thread, should I post in it?
Of course you should. Try to think of a relevant post to add; if you can't then a simple '+1', 'gz', 'gl' or 'tl;dr' will suffice.
End of the guide. We hope it has informed you about the spam process on JSP trade forums.
