Normal items add the max number of Sockets depending on the item's level (this is determined by the level of the monster that dropped it) and the inherent maximum number of Sockets for the item's base type. So you may not always receive the "max" number of Sockets.

exactly why i want it socketed first.

i don't have an ilvl checker, and i'm not going to pay this much for something i may not even be able to use. ffs its just a socket quest....

if you refuse to socket it, then i do retract.

i can guarantee you 100% this is ilvl 99 and hell found during a baal run

If it is dropped by Baal it is ilvl99. His minions/anything before Baal are not 99
