I'm not going to argue with you on weither or not God is real.
I believe that God gave YOU the option, and with that option is the choice between Life and Death.
Death being a non-satisfying life and "life" being a life not only on this earth, but an eternal life in Heaven.

I even share his viewpoint of science and logic and reason.

yet there is no proof on either side as for the existence of god.

You don't lose anything, so why not follow?
You have nothing that is permanent in your life.
Life can be taken, money can be used, and people can walk out on you.
The only thing that remains constant, is God's love.
