I thoroughly agree with your explanation sir. But on a different note, the difference between science and english is profound; He was merely communicating that an octopus in a hypothetical war would be able to wield many weapons, imagine the control of something you would have if you had 8 (and since you're ever so scientific) appendages at which you were able to control. This octopus would have a clear advantage on a biological level to humans if only he had more intelligence. This is truly a joke for the ages. Language is meant for communication, where I do believe he had accurately portrayed the octopus in the proper light, it was indeed not scientifically correct.
