BECAUSE ZERKS HAVE HIGHER BASE DAMAGE THAN WAR AXES.

You need to clue into the fact that you're comparing them on the basis of two different runewords. They do the same damage in your case because doom adds ED and grief does not.

because it takes +336ed on the war axe to reach that damge, it takes +9%ed on the zerker to reach that damage... and griefs +340-400 damage doesn't show on weapon, but its there
