Two arrested in heroin raid
Two men were arrested on felony drug charges as a result of a drug raid on a Hoquiam home in the 400 block of 31st Street in Hoquiam Tuesday.
The Grays Harbor Drug Task Force, with assistance from Hoquiam officers, conducted the mid-morning raid, the culmination of an ongoing task force investigation of heroin use spanning multiple counties.
Task force detectives had made multiple controlled buys at the home and secured a search warrant, according to Hoquiam police. During the raid, six people inside the home were detained, including the primary suspect who had allegedly been dealing heroin from the home.
Detectives allegedly recovered suspected heroin from the home, as well as cash and other items indicative of illegal drug sales.
A 21-year old Hoquiam man and a 51-year old Hoquiam man were booked at the county jail on felony drug charges. Both live at the home. A 28-year-old man who was apparently staying at the house was arrested and booked at the Hoquiam Jail on an outstanding Hoquiam warrant for disorderly conduct and obstructing a law enforcement officer, according to Hoquiam police. The man later posted bail to the court and was released.
The Grays Harbor Drug Task Force is a multi-agency team made up of detectives from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department, the Aberdeen Police Department and the Hoquiam Police Department. Detective Sergeant Keith Fouts, the DTF supervisor, characterized this raid as a “local clean up” of an alleged neighborhood drug dealer that the DTF came across while working on a larger investigation.
Hoquiam police said the homeowner will be put on official notice that subsequent drug dealing from her home may subject the property to forfeiture. This post was edited by ElChupaCabre on Dec 30 2009 08:30pm
