So I couldn't help but notice after the initial day or two of the open beta hell difficulty disappeared, however I have now seen a party or two playing in hell difficulty my question becomes how do I go about accessing it? Does anyone know? If so it would be greatly appreciated.

Then why don't you enlighten us.

Join a party of someone who has a hell game up...leave the party...voila hell mode unlocked. It's how I did it earlier, there were two of three afkers in hell.

Tried this then proceeded to join another party and after leaving the 2nd one I could no longer access it if the difficulty was changed.

Either way it doesn't answer the original question of how they got hellmode in the first place.

Hellmode was enabled for the first few days, they disabled it later.

You cant rejoin a party after doing this. The thing to do would be create a level 1 alt, join a hell party, then log him out. Now you have someone who can host hell games whenever you want for whoever you want. Like Penguin mentioned Hell was enabled only briefly, these characters obviously still had their difficulty set to hell after it was removed and now can host parties allowing others to join and subsequently make their own hell games.
