Keep in mind this game's online play status is in limbo.
The founding company is out of business, and the rights to HGL in NA is up in the air.
So online servers may in fact shut down in the near future... or stay up, we dont have a clue yet.

You in fact chose a class that can be a bit tough in early levels.

Since this will be your learning character, i left lots of extra skill points for you to experiment with.
Either try another skill tree with them, or try the utility skills.
In normal mode, you will get by with this framework just fine, even if you end up using the extra skill points in skills that arent great.

and remember that at lvl 20, you can make elite mode characters too.
if you feel you have caught on to how the game works well enough, try it out!

elite mode is way better. It's hardly tougher than norm, and you get way faster XP and more rare monsters.

switch as soon as you can. I waited way too long.

I used a combo of demonspine and lightning field through the early stages. I'm lvl 21 with my voker now, just getting tempest. I don't think skullsplitter and boneshards are wrth the points, though it's possible skullsplitter is decent at high levels.

Demonspine is nice because with a few points in it you're stunning stuff regularly. if you max it, nothing will escape the stunning except bosses probably. (plus, it's like bone spear where you can go through multiple enemies. so if you get good at lining shit up you can multiply your power greatly.)

i have demonspine on the left click and lightning field on my right click, with tempest at #4 so I can reach up and throw one out there when things get busy.

aye, elite mode is way fun.
i waited too long too. Played HGL since release, pLayed normal 6 chars until about 3 months ago. But got a 50r6 MM, lvl 46 Evo, and a baby lvl 14 BM in elite now.

As for Evo's, i have 3 total now. I have tried Spectral/Lightning, Toxic/Lightning, and Bone/Lightning builds now.
So far Bone/Light is my favorite, and Toxic/Light is 2nd fav. My very first (deleted) evo was Fire/Poison, and hated their fire skills...
Anyway, about bone skills... If the OP decides to try bone skills, DEFINITLY get Skullsplitter, its is very powerful. Delicate to use and aim, but worth it to learn.

It can take down large mobs with one well placed shot with teh efficiency of Spectral Curse (i.e. D2's Corpse Explosion)...
at lower lvls admittedly its just moderately good. 7+ pts makes it able to clear rooms and lay waste to mobs very quickly.
I use it along with Spectral Curse... imagine the carnage, lol!

anyway, GL and enjoy ... while we can!

Skullsplitter is the way forward!! I spent 8kk on a skill retrainer for this skill and currently have it at lvl 9, it rocks so much ^^

well shit i used some fire skills but other than that im only level 18 so i have time to change

i like lite field

and i guess ill try the bone skills as well
