I was thinking about getting Hellgate: London but I heard a few friends saying that it was "instanced" like Guild Wars was...meaning when you leave town you run into noone in the outside world unless they are in your party.

I've played WoW too long to where I can go anywhere and see anyone at any time...so if Hellgate: London isn't like this...there better be some damn good gameplay/storyline/pvp to cover that up.

Can anyone give me a run down of the game?

I'm also thinking about getting it, but I'm only interested in PvP. Any PvP actually - PKing, dueling, organized team battles. I'm not very interested in killing monsters, and I'm not a fan of instanced gameplay.

How does PvP combat work in HG:L?

You should be in WoW, then. PvP in HGL is just duels in featureless random arenas.

lol to if you want to pk play d2 hardcore, the game with the best pk system in my opinion. There is no pking in hgl, and you get nothing for dueling unlike in Guild wars for example. But flagship will probably change that.
