It's some kind of overall weapon rating that combines mods and everything. The actual damage is shown on the expanded screen.

question: If I have a weapon with chance to cast something on a hit, is it possible to put a mod into it with % chance to cast on a hit thus giving it 2 different things that It may cast?

7% damage on a weapon with 100 physical will give you 100 physical and 7 fire.

The +ignite attack only works if your weapon has fire damage on it. See my previous explanation. It's much like conviction and elemental resistance. The more ignite attack strength you have on the weapon, the higher chance you have to ignite a monster. Each monster has some set amount of resistance to that element.

I recommend you go to the HGL forums if you really want to learn how the game works.

Im confused do you mean that you cannot have 2 different "effects" on a weapon even though you have fire and physical damage (ignite and stun)? Maybe I am just misunderstanding you but when I read it from the link you gave me it suggests you can mix 2 effects.

Here is the explanation exactly taken from that page.

Quote

After a bit of shop-hopping and vendor crafting, here is the final setup on our Swarm rifle:

2 Fuel w/30 Ignite Strength
1 Relic w/27 Phase Strength
1 Relic w/+5% Fire damage
1 Relic w/+7% Spectral damage

Our weapon would do an extra +12% overall damage, part fire and part spectral, combined with a 27 Phase and 60 Ignite attack strength for our effects. Low-ignite resistance zombies would burst into flame with some sense of regularity, burning even more rapidly if they have the misfortune of being phased as well!

Note that +% damage mods do in fact add to overall damage and do not simply convert a percent of existing weapon damage to the new type. That is, you will in fact do more damage with a +% damage mod. For example, a weapon that does 100 Fire damage with a +5% Physical damage mod will do 100 Fire and 5 Physical damage. At that point it may also be modded to cause either, or both, ignite and stun effects.

So I think that means they can both be on 1 weapon? I think... lol. smile.gif

P.S. I probably just misunderstood you.

Right click on your weapon and it will show you what kid of dmg it is doing. You can do stun, psn, shock, fire and phase. Now look further down. You will see XXXX attack strength. This is what you get on mods that adds to your dmg, however, your weapon MUST be doing dmg of that attack type to get benefit from the attack STRENGTH.

So basically attack strength without the type of dmg = no effect.

Not sure if this is what you were looking for but...

You're misunderstanding me

I'm not sure what's confusing

You have whatever effects you have damage types

Physical = stun
Fire = ignite
electrical = shock
spectral = phase
toxic = poison

if you have all 5 damage types you have a chance for all types of effects

Point is you must have the damage TYPE to expect a chance for the EFFECT.

An effect strength mod has no use if you do not have that damage type.

i.e. if you have a gun with no electrical damage a mod with +1000 shock effect will do you no good.
