Are there as many items in this game as in D2 ?

as in unique items? yes there are something like 200 different unique items.

there styles/versions:
white item(no stars): normal (same as in d2)
green item(1 star): enchanted (same as magical/purple items in d2)
blue item(2 stars): rare (same as yellow in d2)
orange item(3 stars): legendary (can/has more stats than rare so next step from thouse)
yellow item(5 star): unique ( same as in d2)
4star item: set (these have yet to come)

Just some other questions for the people who play HGL here :

+What's the difference between Normal and Elite mode ???
+How much costs the Elite mode ???
+Once you started a char in Normal, can you make him go into Elite, or backwards ???
+Are the JSP trades more on Elite than Normal ???

1. elite is harder. monsters are stronger, u also have better chanses in finding good items since there are more rare/epic/legendary and unique monsters spawning

3. nope, if u make elite char its gonna be always in elite, same goes for normal char
4. dunno, i guess it depends on what realm u are gonna play

I have played HGL for 2 months.
This game is not good enough for me.
"0" Pvp.
Boring quests -all the same-"kill 8 ....", "kill 6..."
I'm waiting for "Age of Conan" and "Warhammer Online:Age of Reconinig" (I bought pre-order for collector version).

Maybe something ther changed so I'm sorry if u have other opinion.

true about the pvp but, i have to somehow disagree with the quests sure i guess the major of the quests are like in any other game "kill that and bring thouse and then talk to that guy over there" but there are some
quests that are not like that, for example the C.I.S quest is something different or the quests @ finsbury square (the test thing) thouse are something totaly different. But you really cannot
deny the truth the most of the quest are the same as in any other rpg.

hardcore, more uniques , events, u can enter "subscriber area only " like Stonehenge, u can pvp(not sure about this, iv heard that u can pvp only if u subscribe) and some other stuff too

u can play elite WITHOUT subscribing aka paying the 10€/month
