subscribing is nice, although id estimate around 75% of the existing content is available to non-subscribers
as more and more new content is released, subscribers will gain more benefits, but right now theres plenty to do, well worth the $50 to just buy the game and play online for free

Your not losing much, except the economy, friends,help when ur stuck.. But its up to you.. if your comp can run hellgate, and you feel like starting new grounds, then HGL. IF you wana restart over, but want to know about every detail, go back to d2 .

if u dont wanna play online why d2 is bad off line so would this be inless u meant pay

thats pretty hard to understand, but i am asking about playing offline because my friend has a copy, but he plays online, so i cant... thinking if i should just play it offline free from him, or buy new copy to get cd key and play online

eebay has heaps of people selling the game for less than retail prices, though don't buy an indonesian or chinese copy ect.

unless your an ex-hardcore player from D2 and are hell bent on beating hgl in hardcore elite mode, then there is plenty of fun to be had just playing the game without subscribeing.
the extra content is cool but not essential, I havn't even bothered looking at stonehenge yet even though I have chars past it. (my hardcore chars aint up to it yet)

If your on about playing online you can use his details to log in and make your character but you wouldnt be able to play when he is playing.

You can just get his cd, wack the cdkey in and use his log in details.

What i dont get is you keep saying will i lose out by playing single player??? if you buy the game then you play online, if not then just get a dodgy dowload and play single player.

Just miss out on questing with mates and lvling up etc
