Don't think it works as Vagrant (starting job). I think you need to change to your first job (at level 15) before getting powerlevelled. Basically how it works is, you are allowed to share EXP with party members that are up to like 19 levels above you. So some monsters that you can't normally kill, a character 19 levels higher who can is able to party with you and split the EXP with you. Actually unless you're a support Assist job, you probably won't be doing anything at all except leech. In fact there is a way to safely leech by flying around and following your powerleveller. When you are flying, you cannot be attacked by most monsters (except flying monsters, but they are only in certain locations where you probably won't be at anyway). Even though you cannot be attacked, you can still gain EXP.
