1.) Introduction

In this guide I will be giving you the layout of what I think makes a good AOE Knight. When I first started Flyff I explored all of my character options just like most of you probably did. I decided that a Knight looks like a pretty cool character to play; as it turns out I wouldn’t want any other. If you are interested in making an AOE knight, then this guide is for you. If you are looking on how to build a 1vs1 Knight, then this guide is NOT for you. This guide will be fairly brief, and may lack some detail. I made this guide to get you familiar with knights and help you make one by leading you in the right direction, I expect you to figure out the main gist of the game yourself. Also you are on your own until you are a level 60 and have completed the Knight Job-Transfer Quest. Once you have done this you are ready to begin.

For the record:
AOE = Area of Effect

2.) Character Description:

Knights receive the most HP per STA point in the game. They also have the best defense in the game; keep in mind that STA adds Hp + Def (and fp) per point added. This means that overall, knights are the best tank character class in the game. They have a bulk heavy armor look (if you don't like the look you can cover up with Cash Shop clothing). Knights are the only class available that are able to use Two-Handed Axes & Swords.

3.) Stat & Skill Distribution:

Stats:

As you stat your Knight, keep in mind that there is no absolutely perfect way of doing so. I am however, going to lead you in the right direction.
As a Knight you are going to want to focus ONLY on:

Strength:: Increases your minimum and maximum physical attack.
&

Stamina
: Increases your defense as well your HP and FP.

Now you have a few options.
Pick one of the following:

1.) I want to kill and level quickly (Requires Full Support from a Ringmaster).

2.) I want to tank the whole spawn without fear of dieing.

3.) I want to be well balanced, tanking a reasonable amount of monsters and killing them without any troubles.

Keep in mind the suggested below are BASE stats, meaning NO equipment added. I will get to the equipment section next, and you can make any adjustments early on to your base stats ahead of time if you plan to go STR or STA equip heavy.

Now here is what I suggest for each of those options above:

1.) Put all points into STR until your base STR is 140. Once your base STR reaches 140 you no longer choose STR every level, from here on out it is pure STA.

2.) A good method is the 1:1 method. Every level put 1 into STR & 1 into STA. Keep at this until your base STR is 75. Once your base STR reaches 75 you no longer choose STR every level, from here on out it is pure STA.

3.) Using the 1:1 method is a great way to be a well balanced Knight. Every level put 1 into STR & 1 into STA. Keep at this until your base STR is 90. Once your base STR reaches 90 you no longer choose STR. from here on out it is pure STA.

All other stats should remain 15!
Strength: XX / XXX
Stamina: XXX
Dexterity: 15
Intelligence: 15

Now I would like to include a path some knights choose, but I do not personally recommend (i'll tell you why in just a second), and that is a PURE STA build.
If you are going pure STA you will of course put all of your stat points into STA. For leveling and pvp alike I have never seen a need for this build, as it is time consuming to level and get kills. However once you are fully leveled (lvl 140 templar) full STA could be an option purely for tanking in a siege (tank+ sneaker).

Truly though you can stat your knight however you want and do just fine as far as leveling/pvp goes (as long as you only choose str/sta).

Skills:

Before fighting you will buff yourself up.
The skill you use to AOE with is Power Stomp.

Skills to max: In order from first to last.
1.) Empower Weapon
2.) Smite Axe
3.)Axe mastery
4.)Power Stomp (What you AOE with)
5.) Rage
6.) Pain Reflection
7.) Guard
8.) Sneaker

Here are two Flyff Wiki-Links that explain what these skills do.

http://flyff-wiki.gpotato.com/index.php/Mercenary (For Empower Weapon, Smite Axe, Sneaker, & Axe Mastery)
http://flyff-wiki.gpotato.com/index.php/Knight (For Power Stomp, Rage, Guard, & Pain Reflection)

4.) Main Equipment

Upgrading your equipment (+1-10 / Piercings / Awakes /Elements) are useful and will help you level quicker and survive longer, but I suggest you wait until level 105 before going all-out on gear upgrades.

The gear you will use as an AOE knight is simple.

Armor:

Level 60: Recorn/Rescorn:
There are 4 pieces to this set, you will want them all.

Set bonus:
1/4: No effect
2/4: Def+22
3/4: Def+50, Add HP+15%
4/4: Def+50, Add HP+15%, Attack Speed+20%

As you reach level 90 you will shed your Recorn/Rescorn set & use a new set.
This set may not look like much, but its extra defense should hold you off nicely until your level 105 set (a potential end-game set)

Level 90: Wees/Weeshian:
There are 4 pieces to this set, you will want them all.

Set bonus:
1/4: No effect
2/4: Def+25
3/4: Def+50, FP Consumption-15%
4/4: Def+50, FP Consumption-15%, STR+7

Level 105: Knighert/Knighz
There are 4 pieces to this set, you will want them all. This can be used as your end-game set.
Feel free to upgrade this set to +10 with a 4/4 pierced suit & beastly awakens.

Set bonus:
1/4: No effect
2/4: Def+10%
3/4: Def+10%, Ranged Attack Block +10%, Short Range Attack Block+10%
4/4: Def+15%, Ranged Attack Block+15%, Short Attack

Block+15%, Add HP+15%

Level 125 [Hero]: Bileire/Bilari
There are 4 pieces to this set, using all 4 pieces is a must. This is currently the best knight set in the game.
Feel free to upgrade this set to +10 with a 4/4 pierced suit & beastly awakens.

Set bonus:
1/4: No effect
2/4: No effect
3/4: No effect
4/4: Defense Power +20%, Close Range Block +20%, Increased HP +20%

Weapons:

As an AOE Knight you are only going to use Two-Handed Axes.
These are the most powerful knight weapons available, and since your AOE skill never misses the target, axes are the weapon of choice.

Your first Knight weapon! Use this until lvl 75.
Level 60: Guardian Ambidextrous Axe
Attack without upgrades: 300-304 (Min/Max)
Added bonus: DEX+5, Def+30

This weapon will become Soul Linked once equiped to your character. Once Soul Linked, the weapon CAN NOT be banked, warehoused, traded or sold.
Use this axe all the way to 120 Master. Use it all the way to Templar if you can.
* Level 75: Ultimate Lusaka's Heavy Axe
Attack without upgrades: 601-612 (Min/Max)
Added bonus: HP +20%, STR +10

Soul Linked once equipped, if you are not prepared to put money you will never get back into an axe, use the lvl 75 Ultimate Lusaka's Heavy Axe (the really cheap Soul Linked axe) as your end game weapon.
* Level 120 MASTER: Ultimate Ancient Two-Handed Axe
Attack without upgrades: 820-833 (Min/Max)
Added bonus: HP+20%, Attack Rate+10%, STA+15

Currently the best axe in the game, if you can get your hands on this then use it!
* Level 135 Templar Hero: Harbinger
Attack without upgrades: 728 ~ 729 (Min/Max)
Added bonus: Additional HP Rate +30%, Additional Attack Power +20%, Block rate of short range attack +25%

Cloak:

The only cloak you will ever need is
Cloak of the Dragon
Attack +320

Not only does this 320 attack roughly equal 40 str stat points, the + attack ADDS damage your your Pain Reflect skill.

Accessories:

Depending on if you want to tank more or deal damage more, you will choose either Vigor rings (+Strength) or Stam rings (+Stamina)

Ring #1: Stam or Vigor ring +9 or higher
Ring #2: Stam or Vigor ring +9 or higher
Necklace: Gore Necklace +6 or higher
Earring #1: Demol Earring +12 or higher
Earring #2: Demol Earring +12 or higher
Alternative Earrings: Speedo’s +3

Currently the best jewelry to use is the Champion's Set.

2x Champion's Ring These add str just like a Vigor ring (it also adds Adoch at higher levels, but this does not benefit your knight).
2x Champion's Demol Earring These add more Damage than regular Demol Earrings.
1x Champion's Gore Necklace This adds the same amount of HP per level as the regular Gore Necklace, but this also adds Magic Defense.
To ensure this is THE best knight jewelry is that it's a set, and with all of it you get an additional bonus of:
20% HP, 50% Reflect Damage, 20% Melee Block.

5.) Stats to look for while awakening:

Helmets:
You will primarily be looking for high STA or STR awakens.

Suits:
You will primarily be looking for high STA or STR awakens

Gauntlets:
You will primarily be looking for a high Attack awaken
Secondarily you will want Attack Speed % because attack speed affects how fast you gather monsters. Note* you will always have the same AOE skill speed, only gathering speed will change with Attack Speed.
Also, + Critical % /+ Critical Damage % do NOT affect a knight AOE.

Boots:
You will primarily be looking for a high Speed % awaken.
Defense and HP are nice awakens, but you cant get enough on boots to make a tremendous difference. Speed will allow you to run toward (or away from) your enemy faster, so really speed minimizes the time it takes per AOE. (gather time etc.)

Weapons:
You will primarily be looking for high STA and/or STR/Attack awakens

6.) PvP or PvM?:

AOE Knights excel at PvM (Player vs. Monster)
They are easily the best grinding class in the game. However, Giant-Hunting can be very time consuming and is probably best left to blades. Right now in the PvP aspect of the FlyFF world, knights are just okay. It can be fun to fight against other AOE Knights and see who comes out on top. Normally AOE Knights are not expected to get kills in guild sieges, but instead just sneakering the enemy and tanking their hits will be your main role. You can sneaker/tank and even get kills in guild sieges, but sneaker is frowned upon in the arena because it is considered very “cheap” (In other words: people will complain that knights can be very good).

7.) Final Notes:

Thank you for taking your time and reading what I had to say about AOE Knights.
IF you have any Questions/Comments feel free to post them here or PM me.

8.) FAQ's:

Q: Why is the skill Pain Reflection useful?

A :
What this skill does is it reflects damage back to the attacker, it's useful in PvP & incredibly useful as you gather mobs of monsters. While gathering, you will have a big group of monsters chasing & attacking you. When you are ready to start AOEing the group, you will notice that their hp is ~2/3 of the way full, Pain Reflection has caused this to happen.

*Tip: +Attack mods on equip adds damage to this skill!

Q: Do you have any tips for a 1v1 knight?

A:
Sure, but I would prefer you PM me any specific questions you may have.

Q: Why not use plugs? (+Defense Earrings)

A:
You don’t use plugs because you will already recieve more than enough defense through STA points.
Knights get more hp & defense points per STA than any other character.
Think of it as comparing the two and using the one which adds the most stat points, Plugs add little defense in comparison to how much you already get from STA points, it is because knights get so little attack per strength, and Demol Earrings add a large amount of attack, you can actually convert it to see that the demol is the same as adding STR, significantly more than plugs would add to STA.

Q: Do you HAVE to level with a Full Support Ringmaster?

A:
You don't HAVE to, but why wouldn't you? The extra Buffs & Constant heal is amazing and will speed up your leveling process.

Q: Why is the level 105 set your end game gear instead of the level 120 set?

A:
The differences are this: The level 120 set adds more base defense than the 105 set, along with +10 sta / +10 str.
However, the 120 set lacks the +15% Block your lvl 105 set adds, which is a necessity for an AOE Knight.
Also, now the 125 set IS your end game set.
