Hey -- I am really considering getting a WiiU after seeing the upcoming games from E3. I am also interested in ported games. What, in your opinion, are the best ported games available for the WiiU?

I know Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Paper Mario 64 are available -- I absolutely loved these games when I was younger. I also liked games like Mystical Ninja Starring Goeman, Mega Man Legends (the one on 64), and tons more (not sure if these are available). Unfortunately, I never owned a gamecube so I don't know anything from that console.

So, what ports are good? Also, what do you need exactly to play these ported games?

Sounds like you're looking for virtual console games on WiiU. A port is when they make the game run on the console itself, WiiU VC is basically emulation on WiiU. All you have to do is to purchase them on the WiiU Eshop.

As for gamecube games, i'm pretty sure nintendo said they will come eventually but there aren't any on the eshop for now. There's an HD remake of Wind Waker though, if you're interested in that.

edit: btw, the wiiu is backward compatible with the wii, so you can access the wii eshop too

I really with they would pump some time/money into the eShop though. Would kill to have Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Sunshine, etc. on the WiiU. I love that their games look promising and that they are putting a huge emphasis on games, but I want a great eShop dammit!

it will probably take a bit more time to get the gamecube games to work though, but there are such great games on gamecube it's well worth the wait

Promising, but no timeframe! But better than nothing Still want my Super Mario RPG port to 3DS or WiiU though

When are they going to put GBA games on the 3ds?? Its been years and all i have are still just the ambassador GBA games lol

Lol same. so many ambassador games I've never used

I think all games on WiiU vc can be played on the gamepad

some Wii games do require the pro classic controller

but virtual console games ARE ports
