Pokemon Soulsilver won't connect to my network. I have two networks set up (WPA and WEP) and, as I understand, you need to use WEP. Done that shit, still can't seem to get it to let me get on the GTS. I'm a net admin for a living so I don't feel like figuring this shit out on my time off; 25 fg to whomever leads me to being able to connect to GTS.

Game: Soulsilver
Version of DS: 3DS
Security: WEP

Presuming you've done everything on your 3DS correctly (i.e you've read the little crappy manual, which gives you all you need to know) i would guess the problem is with your router.

still probably being blocked by a firewall which is part of your router.

Either port forward to allow access or remove the firewall for when you want to use GTS.

I would expect you know this, but if you don't:
Start by running command. If you're an admin i would hope you know what this means. (if not it's in the system32 folder or you can "run" it)
type ipconfig /all
type in the default gateway numbers into a browser. i.e 192.168.1.2
login. If you do not know the password, look at your router, there should be one on there, if not try no password and also try admin as a password. admin is generally the username.
Look in there for a firewall or setup ports. Not sure which ports are used by gameboys/pokemon off hand just google it. If you disable the firewall, this will almost certainly allow you to connect.

another link which gives some form of ports: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/results.jsp?error_code=86420&system=DS&locale=en_US

it basically tells you to open all of them for your 3DS.

Yeah... here's the kicker; I live in Tokyo. I can't read japanese nor do I have character input for it on my keyboard, and cbf'd to search around to get this entire thing translated (the admin logon I'm referring to). I was hoping to find a way without disabling my firewall.

did you setup the connection within the game?
cause soulsilver isn't dsi enhanced so it doesn't use the settings your 3ds uses (AFAIK)

Haven't tried this; it's my first time playing my DS in over a year. I'll try setting it up in the game and then get back to you.
