This is going to be quite a long shot to ask about this here.... but who knows.

I've been watching some super mario 64 speedrun streams and tried to get into it myself. My main issue is that i can't seem to find a way to get a good copy to run. (PAL is like 12% slower than NTSC so its bad for speedrunning).
I have a n64 and a wii, both with a legit copy of sm64 on it but they're both PAL. I tried softmodding my wii and playing a ntsc copy but all the copies i use seem to have a problem (using .wad's). The PAL version works fine... but it runs at 50fps so it's pointless.... the NTSC wads i found all seem to run slower and glitchyier.

The second option is emulators. I have download a buttload of roms but they all seem to have the same problem, the submarine level lags really badly (all the others are fine and run smoothly at NTSC speed)

Any ideas on how to fix any of these?

I don't know, but, if you don't get an answer here, you might aswell ask the people who you watch speedrun. People who stream/post gaming videos are usually helpful, at least that's my experience with them.

Most of them are from USA so they have NTSC anyway. The ones that use an emulator all have the same problem.

just go to speeddemoarchive if you want real advice about speedrunning, noone here really speedruns, so all you're going to get are bad advices (except for this one ofc)
