The new wii model (RVL-101) does not have a port for a Gamecube controller, but it does have a USB slot

Can a N64 Usb controller be plugged into the rvl-101 wii and be used to play N64 games you purchased from the virtual console?

I don't know for sure but I'm gonna go ahead and guess no. As the original n64 controller isn't USB, it'll be third party and not meant for Wii so a Wii won't know what to do with the input of a USB controller. You'll have to get a classic controller pro more likely than not. If you do decide to buy a classic controller don't get a cheap one on eebay as they don't work for crap. I bought a pack of 2 and they're trash.

(You may be able to use a usb controller with emulators on a softmodded Wii, but I even doubt that is possible)
