im thinking about buying a ds for the sole purpose of playing pokemon black.not sure which one to buy.it will be one of the following.

DS Lite
DSI XL
3DS

is their a huge price difference in the 3?and is their any significant differences that would improve the pokemon game at all?i dont play gba games so i dont need a lite if thats the only reason i should get one.but if the next pokemon games are only coming out on 3ds maybe i should just buy that? idk!!!! help me decide

now lets be clear here, the order the dses came out are

original ds
ds lite
dsi
dsi xl

3ds

3ds is an entirely new console, it can play ds AND 3ds games and with the recent price drop would probably be the best choice

but if you only want to play pokemon black and no other game, its a toss between the ds lite and dsi xl
now the difference between the two:

dslite can pretty much only play games, but it can play ds AND gba games

dsi xl has a bunch of new feature, but nothing the 3ds doesnt have, but it does have a bigger screen, but at the same time, is the biggest of the three and is the heaviest too (so the less portable of the three)


my choice would be the 3ds, especially after the recent price drop (was 250$, now is 170$) and you can get it has an awesome bundle with legend of zelda: ocarina of time 3d or super mario 3d land

in conclusion: if you only want to play pokemon black and nothing else, get a dslite or dsi xl

if you plan on getting 3ds games too (and the next pokemon game) get a 3ds

pretty much what doyek said, 3ds isnt that much expensive and futur pokemon games are most likely gonna be exclusive for that platform

also the 3ds comes with ar games/face raiders/mii plaza games

those arent great but they're pretty fun and they're (at least the mii plaza games) gonna get updated soon enough

and the 3ds comes with a 1 month netflix free trial (like the wii/ps3/etc but i dont think regular ds comes with it)

Any pokemon caught can be looked @ in 3d

idk if it does anymore

also theres always rumors of the red/blue/yellow games coming to eshop

i loved mario kart ds, gotta say i had 2 ogiginal ds + a ds lite so i played it a lot with my friends thanks to download play

well ya i enjoy nsmbds alot, sm64 is just a direct handheld port nothing new whatsoever
