I would get pokemon, but honestly i stopped following it after there were more then 151 or whatever. got gay.

Solo: Pokemon, Etrian Odyssey Series (hard), Chrono Trigger
Multiplayer: New Super Mario Bros, has download play I think

As for list two, if you like fighting games Bleach: Dark Souls is one you can play WiFi and D&P.

For RPG i'd suggest Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Playing the first two are pretty necessary to understand the game and they're better but was a very good game nonetheless.
