Buy them on Wii Shop channel with Credit card, or go into your local supermarket (wal mart of whatever) or video game store (Eb games, Game Stop) and purchase a point card, then open it, scratch the back and input the code onto "redeem points" on the Wii Shop Channel.

Well, if someone else has points, if you add each other as wii friends, he can buy something and gift it to you, basically meaning, he bought it, you download it for free.
