How are people battling/trading Pokemon on Diamond/Pearl through Wi-Fi on the DS? I was told this thing could only connect from 35 feet away. Is there something I'm missing? I'm not up to date on this stuff and I rarely try to find out about the stuff. I would just like to find a way to battle people that are farther than 35 feet lol.

EDIT: Just thought of this... Maybe people hook it up to the Wii and go online with it and then trade/battle?

The DS connects with your wireless network, special USB connector you can buy, or freeloads off another wireless network "Hotspot" to get online to Nintendo's WiFi system. Then with the use of friend codes, you can connect with other users around the world, to battle, trade and even Voice Chat.

I tried to connect to the nearest (locked) HotSpot. It told me that I need a WEP Key (I think that's what it was called). How am I supposed to find that?

Also, how am I supposed to find my WFC ID code thingy? I can't remember exactly what it's called, but I can't find that to enter it on www.nintendowifi.com. I'm using Pokemon Pearl, if that helps in any way to help me find the ID.

ok if u use the usb port wi-fi thing, start pearl/diamond go to wfc settings, on bottom kind of, it says connect to wi-fi usb port , hit that and follow from there

Yeah, but then it tells me to connect my USB port. I don't have the USB thing for connecting to Wi-Fi (and I really don't want to purchase it). I was trying to get connected to a HotSpot, such as McDonald's. They're apparently the closest. When I try to connect to the HotSpot it tells me to enter a WEP Key. I can't figure out how to find that.

I also can't figure out how to find the WFC Connection ID thing to enter onto www.nintendowifi.com. Those are the two things I need help with so far.

hmm mcdonalds lol how far away is it from where ur connecting, also id rather just purchase a usb port one for 40 $ i think it is, if u dun got money, ask neighbors for work (lawn mowing Pulling weeds etc)

i make 60$ a week mowing 2 lawns once a week, 25 on 1 35 on other, not bad 4 me im only 15 btw

Actually, I found a different HotSpot from a neighbor. I have to stand in the middle of the road, but I get two bars... lol.. But I got it all figured out on my own, really.

Now I just need a friend code so I can battle and stuff.

But eh, I don't want to spend 40 dollars on something I've heard is junk. I've read about it from people that have bought it and some weren't pleased. I don't want to really take chances.

I'll just have to stand in the middle of the road and play. lol

Get a proper wireless router and use your own internet connection. Won't be too expensive and it's not "junk" since you can connect a DS, a laptop, etc, wirelessly. Certainly better than standing out in the rain while stealing your neighbour's internet connection.

Nope. I'm fine with what I've got now. I don't mind standing in the middle of the road. And why would I be standing in the rain? I can wait until it's done.
