Well, more importantly than anything else, spend a few hours trying out all of the different weapons, and find what is right for you.

Took me about 5 hours of game play before I decided which weapon I liked to use.

Not much else to say really, the game does a really nice job easing you in, and the difficulty curve isn't too steep.

How should I go about this? And at what point should I start?

Thanks btw. ^_^

JUST got MH tri! Any comments for someone who's just about to start playing would be greatly appreciated.

Right. Welcome aboard! I'd suggest playing Single Player until you repel Lagiacrus or kill him.. this will get you introduced to how many of the bosses act and give you some time to figure out your weapon(s) of choice.

THE FARM IS INVALUABLE! Make sure you upgrade it.

Although the resistances and defense on armor help a LOT early on, you'll be looking to get some skills later on. Armor is most valuable when it grants you a few useful skills. There are lists on the wiki and online that tell you how many points of a skill you need. For instance, +9 Crit Draw does NOTHING FOR YOU! But +10 unlocks the Critical Draw ability, which makes every unsheathe attack a critical. This works for negatives, too... -9 Protection, for example, does not hurt you! Only after you reach -10 do you get Demonic Blessing, which causes you to take more damage.

Do no be afraid to spam potions and even mega potions. These are going to be easily acquired later on.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me on here.

My info again:

I'm getting on now if anyone gets on, add me!

Idk, when I first started I bought the cheapest vendor version of each weapon and tried em out for a couple hunts. Best to do it this way early game since materials are extremely valuable this early, and you don't want to waste any on a weapon you don't like.

A good way to figure out what weapon you want to go with to start is by doing arena quests you can try all the base weapons without investing money or materials.

So, I just bought this game, any suggestions for a first timer?

Should I play with the classic controller or the wiimote?

Whatever is more comfortable. Either setup works just fine.

I play with the wiimote personally, the controls are easy enough that it's not really worth the investment to buy the classic controller if you don't have one already.

So I've been playing pretty frequently now, and looking to get some friends to play with if you guys don't mind a low level tagging along. ^_^

I won't ruin stuff by dying though, I'm offensive but careful.
