Well you see, there's the Wii, and there's the -U.

its confusing for people who arent following video games news
hell, when they announced it 2 years ago, i wasnt even sure if it was a new console or only a new gamepad

they shouldve just changed the name completely like they usually do, or make it clearer that its a new console (ie: the console not looking the same as the wii)

trust me, its confusing for the average person

it looks like a wii
almost everyone believes the pad is just a new controller to an old console
wii u is too close to the orginal name

will be a flopp only people who buy it are nintendo fanboys
the minority of people have not taken notice of the new console

i wouldn't say they usually change it
example:
Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64
or look at game boy name only really changed once it hit DS

i don't understand why people think this
it should be obvious it's a new console cause of the name difference even if only slightly different

i really think its a combination of similar look/name/casual audience

i mean, nes/snes/n64 didnt really look the same at all, there were some pretty clear change between the consoles (also graphic wise)
whereas the wiiu, its about as powerful as current gens, looks the same as the wii except for the gamepad (and it still uses the wiimote, which adds to the confusion)
i just doubt the wiiu will ever sell well, cuz y'know, competition and stuff and it will still only have good 1st party game and crappy 3rd party games (ie: bad ports and no real multiplat)

tldr: nes/snes/n64/gamecube/wii had clear difference between each gens, wii/wiiu doesnt

because they only show the gamepad with the name wiiu on it, with some kind of console in the back that looks a lot like a wii
the console couldve been only the gamepad

im just not convinced at all about the wiiu being worth my money right now

it's not worth getting because there's obviously no games but it's normal. That being said, it is really a lot of fun to play, there's a lot of potential and i trust nintendo will make great use of it so i'm really looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Will third party studios use it to its full potential, i don't know but some studios seem really dedicated to bringing their games onto the wiiu
