Games like Mario and Zelda aren't casual...
casual is stuff that is catered to non-gamers. stuff like Bejeweled or Wii Sports, stuff that your grandma can play. Try to let your grandma play Mario galaxy or zelda lol, it won't work out

Nintendo only started going casual with the Wii,
SSBB was more Noob-friendly
Zelda got easier
etc etc
(I had em all besides SNES)
sigh.....I never said anything about mario and zelda....which reminds me...they aren't hard games, i actually would call them casual.
Nintendo has always catered towards casual gaming...it's a fact. This is coming from someone who has had every nintendo system (besides DS/gameboy color)
Read this if you want to understand something important....
Games that existed in the late 80's and 90's were simple. There wasn't much to them. Kids and parents could both pick up the games and play. Now....and the previous decade....Most games are a lot more involved and for those who don't play video games, they take that extra step to get used to it. Just the simplicity of going from 2d to 3d can change the perspective of the non-gamer.
So yes, someone's grandma could play mario, or zelda...they are not complicated games by no means...but give them a game like Wow, and it would take them months to understand. I'm not saying Wow is a complicated game, but for those who have never experienced a MMO, it can be. Most nes games were all the same, just with different characters, plot, and scenery.
SSBB isn't more noob-friendly. If you're going to complain about the smashball (yes, I hate it too) turn it off. A brand new SSBB player won't beat someone who knows the game...it's a fighting game.
