From his comments, some sites are also reporting that Nintendo is now taking a loss on the 3DS hardware, though it's unclear if that's exactly what he said.

Not saying that they still make money on it but the "news" reports that they are losing money are based on rumors so far and arent verified
i'd like to point out that rumors also say that sony will lose money on the vita at 250
another part of the article says they sell the consoles for half the retail price to retailers but a good friend of mine who works at a microplay has been told that they barely make profit on any consoles sold and if they could they wouldnt do it (but they have to because selling consoles = selling more games)
