Yoshi has one thing that the low end characters don't have, a chaingrab.

His chain grab is HORRIBLE and its more of a chain release grab.
Yoshi has shield lag, and can't jump out of a shield.

Yoshi has a high potential to be a good character if you put enough time into him, everyone below him has very little.

I'm guessing you don't know what the dragonic reverse is

DR/DT isn't that good, it's only good for spacing (to a small extent) and mindgames.

I bet you didn't know there is alot of potential in ANY character you choose to put time into.
Just some characters have more.
Yoshi has very little potential that's all.
All characters can jump while shielding, Yoshi can't.
Yoshi has shield start up lag.
Yoshi has just a double jump for recovery.
All the egg does is stall really, I've only seen once or twice where the egg has lifted someone up after using the double jump.
Yoshis side B egg roll, has horrible priority.
There isn't one attack in the game that won't stop the egg.
