im not sure which weapon to start with/master

bow
IG
charge blade

idk if i am a fan of the charge blade 2h but it seems cool overall

IG looks pretty awesome but everyone says its confusing as fuck and i have no idea what about anything in this game

and i am a bow fanboy, usually like all bow classes in games. but is it good dmg? do people want bow hunters online?

I can recommend CB, it has all in one weapon.
You can: Guard, Knock out, has good range (in Axe mode), Bursts, massive Amount of damage, with a status CB its like you hold the monster in stunlock
I just love this weapon haha

I have, but I like hearing what people have to say about their favorite weapon. Not just how to use them on a gaajin hunter video.

Any of your thoughts on it haha, how the dmg is, how the speed compares to all the other big slow weapons

Any utility for online play? How it is end game?

In the end in just curious to learn about the game as much as possible: first monster hunter game for me, grew up playin Diablo and wow and such. So this is all pretty new to me

basically

db's playstyle involves getting in quick hits and keeping mobile, then capitalizing on trips/big openings for burst damage (demon dance)

imo it's not very beginner friendly because:

- very easy to get carried away with (button mashing)
- worst range of any weapon
- relies on dodging
- requires stamina management (this can get in the way of the previous statement, but there are ways to mitigate this)
- worn down very quickly (sharpness)

the last three points are taken care of with armor skills but these will not always be readily available, those are:

evade+/evade distance
marathon runner/mushromancer/dash juice
razor sharp/sharpness+1

it's also important to keep your demon gauge up because it is a passive attack boost when active and also provides improved dodge/combos

when I'm playing db it's always my first priority to fill the demon gauge and keeping it up for (ideally) the entire fight

you can use the skill 'focus' to help with this but it is not entirely necessary

so, all that is pretty general information for solo and multi-play, but (imo) online is where dbs really shine, because:

-many more openings when aggro is on teammates, allowing you to get in free demon dances/extra hits, which...
-gives you many more opportunities to apply status (especially paralysis... this is *the* reason to use dbs in groups, and will make most hunts a joke with competent players... just be careful with tripping)
-very strong mounting capability when demonized

overall, a fun weapon with capable damage output... if I had to rank it in various categories alongside other weapons , it'd probably be something like:

(out of 5)

good:

mobility: 4
solo play: 3
online play: 4
ease of use: 3
dps: 2 - 4 (if you go the support route: until endgame relics become available, your actual dps will suffer... however, your team's dps is greatly improved)
support: 4

bad:

reliance on skills: 3
range: 1

thanks man, i really appreciate the post and will take all of that into account:)

really between charge blade bow and dabbling the idea of dual blade or insect glaive.

i want something endgame viable and challenging. something i can master and easily get into end game groups and what not. doesnt have to be the best weapon but one that will perform without a doubt and be useful and still dangerous
