i would say at least a few more years for ps3...
Ps3 originally had said something about the Ps3 going to be around for 10 years before they made anything new.
Also, Sony still hasnt made any Money off of Ps3, so i do not think they will be inclined to make a new console until theyve seen some significant profit, as in within the next few years.
Strategically speaking, the Wii2 would be a strong move, Xbox "may" be making a new system to be released within 1-3 years, but i do not think sony will be releasing anything for at least 3-6
edit: either way the Wii2 will be able to compete with the ps3' and 360's market, even in the event microsoft makes a new console within the next few years, but i doubt sony will, and sony + nintendo will be competitors.
Yodayoda, counter poster here.
Odds are PS3/360 will be announcing a new console or at least dropping their own *hints* within the next 12 months, they don't want to be TOO FAR behind 'Project Cafe', or at least in my opinion. Sony is making money off of the PS3 and have been for a while, thats a positive, also they own many games publishing rights etc which helps their bottom line regardless of their actual console profit.
Project Cafe, if marketed right, with a good price tag and launch lineup can easily crack both the 360 and PS3 market place. It's going to be the first console with TRUE 1080p capabilities due to its advanced GPU and most likely stronger CPU (than 360 for sure).
