I played pretty much as fast as I could and missed a ton of stuff, level desing was fine and controls were only slightly different (mostly because there is momentum now.
afaik it wasn't labeled as a bad game, just criticised for:
being a completely unoriginal game that was pretty much a blatant copy of the SNES game with only one or two uninteresting additions
being too way too easy
having a horrible sound track
I haven't played it myself and I'm not planning on buying it after reading the reviews and watching some videos on Youtube, but I was kind of looking forward to the game.
Bringing back the Yoshi Island style could be refreshing if done properly, but it looks like they blew it.
It turned out to be like New Super Mario Bros 2 instead of like A Link Between Worlds.
