GAMEPLAY
=========
OVERVIEW

"Heroes of Ruin combines elements from action adventure and action RPG games. It takes inspiration from a wide range of games, including Western and Japanese adventure games, but it also brings its own take on the genre.

The combat is all done in real-time so you don't wait for your turn to attack. The combat experience will also be different if the player decides to play alone or with other heroes. There is a wide range of enemies and they attack with several different behaviors which include ranged attacking from snipers, unblockable attacks from hulking beasts, and evasive and fencing attack behaviors. This keeps the combat interesting and varied."
--George Wright

CONTROLS

"The game controls are simple, the A button does a basic attack, which can be strung out to perform combos. The X, Y, and B buttons do special moves that can be upgraded as your character levels up. For my Vindicator I had a dash attack, an area attack, and Shockwave attack that sent an expanding cone of damage out from my sword. The right shoulder button triggers a dodge move or, if held down, blocks. Pushing the d-pad left or right replenishes health and energy for pulling off more specials."--IGN

LOOT

"We’ve got over 20,000 weapons per class, we’ve got a tremendous amount of content," said Tim Schwalk, producer at n-Space, when we were talking about Heroes of Ruin. Earlier in the conversation we discussed the game’s character design. Now we switched topics to gameplay and specifically Heroes of Ruin’s loot system.

Being a dungeon crawler, equipping your character with new gear is a core element of Heroes of Ruin. You don’t have to go through menus to do this. If you see loot on the ground you can equip it by pressing up on the D-pad. Weapons are class specific. After all, the bullish Vindicator isn’t going to pick up a rifle made for the Gunslinger.

"20,000… weapons per class," I said wondering how n-Space created so many arms. 80,000+ weapons are a lot to collect.

"We have a really cool randomization system," Schwalk elaborated. "As loot is dropped, based on a lot of different factors, it’ll actually configure them and put them all together. It’s similar to sort of what Borderlands did, you’ll see some similar things, but a lot of cool really different things."

With so many weapons. you probably won’t see every item in Heroes of Ruin. The game automatically creates a StreetPass shop, which you can access in the middle of the Nexus, the game’s hub world. When you pass another player in a mall, coffee shop or Heroes of Ruin party your loot populates another player’s trader’s network. This will give them a chance to buy gear you found and vice-versa." --Siliconera

In addition, there will be around 100,000 pieces of armor.

CHARACTER CLASSES
-Alchitect
A student from a distant academy and aims to become the greatest spell caster in the world.
-Gunslinger
A former criminal turned wanderer, the Gunslinger’s every action is overshadowed by a massive monetary debt he must repay. He seeks riches, wields pistols, hurls bombs and is an evasive fighter.
The Gunslinger excels at ranged combat. He has ways to ensure range is kept, and ways to regain it when lost. He is fast, accurate, and deadly, using a wide array of ranged weapons. He excels at the use of all firearms but also brings to bear explosive incendiaries and other handy tools to eliminate his foes.
-Vindicator
He travels the world to find a way to redeem himself from shame after his he fell from grace from his order.
Uses a sword.
-Savage
He was exiled from his tribe and is looking for a way to gain power and glory.
Relies on brute force.

STORY
======
"War raged for over a hundred years until strong, powerful Lords emerged from the fighting to bring a fragile peace to the land. This peace is threatened when one of the Lords, Ataraxis, ruler of the city of Nexus, is taken ill by a deadly curse. A call is sent out, promising rewards beyond measure for anyone who finds a cure.

Four mercenaries, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and motivations answer the call. One uses forbidden spells to rain death on her foes, one has guns and bombs to blast his way through, another has a mighty sword capable of slicing through entire packs of enemies, and one other gains strength from savagely tearing through anything that stands in his way with brutal, bladed fists."--Official Site
