i highly recommend a boy and his blob. also tales of symphonia dawn of the new world. it's the best possible traditional jrpg for the wii (which aint sayin much lmfao) if you and your boy can get into it. not sure if you dig the whole anime concept tho.
Better off just buying the first ToS for the Gamecube. It's fucking so much better in every way.
