it gives you something to do once you clear all the levels

I enjoyed looking for all the hidden bonus levels and DK coins (I liked how they always gave a small hint one would almost always overlook), plus imo the bonus levels were fun

the hidden areas in DKC were boring and almost impossible to find or keep track of, not proper bonus levels... DKC2 improved this a lot imo

its all a matter of taste imo, altough i agree with you (and pretty much everyone else lol) that the second dkc is the best i also agree with zark, 1 and 3 are very close

but all 3 games have the same great core mechanics and superb level design. from there its all about the atmosphere of the game which makes it very subjective
