If you want to play the Fire Emblem that will come out, you should get the New 3DS. I don't think it will be compatible with the previous versions

nah I'm pretty sure it will be compatible with regular 3DS models, otherwise they would said it wouldn't during the Nintendo Direct

I just bought the 3ds refurbished for 135.

If you were going to do that I would have recommended just spending the 200 on a New 3DS XL in ~3 weeks.

return it back to stores , and tell them that it dont work or some crap reason , and ask for a refund and add the 75$ and just get the n3ds. trust me u wont regret it, you'll pretty much get better processor. the newer games , better 3d view "if your into that" and a c stick for those shooter games.

It's not worth it for that price especially refurbished. You have no idea what the previous person(s) did to the system. You are getting a new system with full warranty considering $65 difference.

plus it future proof if he becomes interested in any it gets exclusive to it, which could eventually include fire emblem games
plus the faster loading and such is a nice plus

When I first got mine I was thinking I was only going to do maybe 1-2 games tops. I know I will have at least 4 games for 3DS soon. Perhaps even more later down the road.
