I guess it could also be the port where the AV cable is plugged into, the effects should be the same, but that sounds less likely

but id say, its probably the 3rd party cord
hmmm, that never happened to me, but about one of the cables being faulty I suppose turning the SNES on with different combinations of 2 out of 3 cables might help clearing it up a bit
