tbh i didnt think it felt like smb3, really the only things that felt like it were the tanooki suit and ship levels
well just the way the levels are made is mario 3-esque imo
sort of linear with a few hidden places to discover
the challenge isnt to find the star or in this case flag pole but to get there
its a different approach but if you prefer the mario 64 style i guess mario 3d land isnt exactly the best game for you

This is probably one of the best games of this generation.
I know that seems like an insane statement for a handheld game, but for a lot of reasons it's definitely in the top tier, maybe my GOTY.
Graphically the 3DS horsepower is shown, it looks arguably better than Wii games with 3D mode enabled, and with it off makes you wonder how much a NON-3D "3DS" title could do.
It pays homage to the classic Super Mario series like nobodys business, including the fantastic whimsical soundtrack, and so far the gameplay feels tight and rewarding.
Waiting until Christmas to get it (was told it'd be a present way long ago) was definitely painful but made it totally worth it.
If you own a 3DS and don't own this title yet, get it.
RE:revelation will showcase the consoles capabilities, it looks just gorgeous
