i highly recommend a boy and his blob. also tales of symphonia dawn of the new world. it's the best possible traditional jrpg for the wii (which aint sayin much lmfao) if you and your boy can get into it. not sure if you dig the whole anime concept tho.

with a FEW exceptions and even then those aren't that great of games

In terms of RPG, get both Fire Emblems. It's very challenging if you never played any FE before but it's hella fun.
