Heart Gold or Soul Silver, as people recommended "pokemon", are two very good ones

well if you have a ds lite, it can play gba games, which is a cool plus

i always beat them on hard mode. [except Fe 7 [originally just called Fire emblem for gba] ] the level with jaffaar is impossible on hard mode....

For DS try Fire emblem: Shadow dragon

I can't believe no one mentioned Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey.

No doubt, the best RPG I've played on the DS.
If you like Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts, you should try The World Ends With You.
