I don't see why people are so negative towards the DSi. There's more improvements besides the camera that people just rage over because they can't find a rational reason to dislike it. Things are improved all the time, no reason to rage over it.
DSi has a camera/sd card slot. - Works better than most people think it does. I rarely use it though.
DSi has a sound recorder. - MENI lolz with this, you can edit it in many different ways that made me and my friends cry laughing.
DSi has a higher brightness setting than DS lite.
DSi has system updates.
DSi has DSi Ware to download and Internet Browser, which is way better than the DS lite, however the games you can download are very crappy I'll admit, but they add games every week, so hopefully they'll start getting old game boy games on there

DSi has shorter battery life, but charges faster than Ds lite. - Doesn't bother me since I don't sit down and play for 9 hours straight, and an outlet for charging is never far away

DSi can access a wider range of Wi-Fi connections than the DS lite, such as WPA and WPA2.
Etc, plus minor changes I don't care to list. If you have a DS lite, stick with it, unless money is no object. If you have classic DS, you should probably switch. I had classic DS and I never want to go back to that

edit: check here for games:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/index.php?showtopic=30476544&f=291ds lite with flash cart = sd slot storage, you can use homebrew to manage files
sound recorder = gimmicky, my friend had fun recording some duke nukem lines. got old after 2 days, never went to it again
higher brightness doesnt justify $40 more of a purchase, or even more than that if you bought it on eeebay
system updates = bad. prevents modding the system the more current it gets.
ds lite has web browsing as well with a flash cart, and lets be honest, no one carries a ds around to web browse. ppl use w/e smartphone they have
charging faster < longer battery life for a portable system, you kno..the things you take OUTSIDE with no POWER OUTLETS
wider range of wi-fi connections, another moot point not to spend the extra money on
all in all: dsi < ds lite
end of story, that is all
