emulation is for desktop but can also be done on hand portable games like a steam deck

the reason why emulation should be the go to source for games is because the games are updated, texture packs, game memory modifications and its free. you can get the game for free, have unlimited edits and play on any device drm free.


you can still do this on switch but you need special hardware to dump switch games to a rom and extract public keys and certs so you can play and load games on the desktop using ryujinx or have online play as if you were playing on your switch. and again you can play any switch game totally free as if you were playing it on the actual switch hardware but on a desktop and expose the game to modern gpu (rtx cards with vulkan drivers) because lets face it the switches hardware is very under powered because it came out in 2017 and they used modest graphics even for that period to make the hardware as cheap as possible.

I have not been able to make the "hacks" work simply because the memory locations are wrong ill have to do some searching but it works for other games flawlessly.

hell yeah thats awesome so how do i play on my switch without a subscription and modding? just curious since this is the Nintendo forum and its clearly that obvious its possible..

from what i hear you cant without having a switch that has homebrew on it. you cant dump switch games or play modded games without homebrew and that does require having a modded switch.

if you followed the links i gave you then you would understand that emulation is way way way easier to pull off.

find the gc game off archive.org or any rom site
download dolphin
buy a usb switch controller or use a usb2 to usb3 micro cable to a switch pro controller ( i use both)
load dolphin and put all your games into a gc game directory in your config so dolphin can see and log what games you have on the main dolphin screen
download a texture mod, unpack it from the 7z
left click on your game on the main window -> properties -> info tab -> find "game id" (PZLE01) keep this in your clipboard
left click on your game on the main window -> properties -> graphics mod tab -> click open directory button then go to the textures folder
make a new folder and rename it as the game id (PZLE01)
in this folder that is renamed drop your texture mod inside
go back into dolphin in the main window click the graphics button, under basic :backend turn on vulkan then select your graphics card, then in the utility tab enable load custom textures

when all that is done (and its easy) all you need to do to load another mod for another game is grab game id, make a new folder in textures folder, paste the mod and play the game. this is so much easier then messing with switch hardware that if you screw it up you can destroy your switch.

oh and the funny thing is that nintendo hates emulators but on the switch any game that is not a native switch game is run in a emulator. on my computer i can run it in 4k with 60 fps with no issues or screen tear. games run fast and smooth and its just visually stunning. also its free, you completely own the game and it has no drm.
