I don't know if this is some elaborate april fools or if it's true but apparently the U.S. military is using the Nintendo Wii remote in actual service.

Google and a few other companies of all kinds put up their April Fools on the 31st.

However, in regards to the army using the Wii remote, I could see that happening.

In fact, almost all modern day controllers could be changed around a bit to accommodate for robotic remote control and such.

Yea, I saw one video online where someone managed to play D2 with his Wii-mote.

Can do a lot of things with anything when you know what you're doing.
So a controller used on a robot is not that surprising.

unfortunately the militaries uh "stuff" is outdated like my members only jacket. The wii remote uses tech similar to rfid which has dook for range where the bot uses a remote (with a whole lot more range.) and sensor array which allows for streaming data uplink. besides the fact bomb diffusal is a multi SM job.

Most of the time they use a high tech little robot to go over place some c4 and blow it up.. e.x. tyco rc car with a robot arm...

It's actually true. It's in the magazine New Scientist. The reason that they are using the Wiimote is because, although using a xbox or PS controller, the wiimote's sensor features allow the technician to concentrate more on the task at hand. They interviewed some of the bomb squad people and they said that like 90% of their concentration, while using a different controller, was placed on the controller because there are so many buttons.
