so for the past month my ps4 has been having problems... the fan has gotten so loud everytime i turn it on, on top of that whenever I put a disc in, I couldn't play for more than 10 minutes before the Light turns red and says it's overheating...

so I was unable to play any of my games except downloaded games...

well I needed to go to Princess Auto and buy a Torx screw kit to open it up and take a look... know what i found? exactly....

the fan had so much dust in it that literally no airflow from the fan into the power supply... there was a cake of dust, a layer... I mean 95% of the airflow BLOCKED....

just a heads up to remind people who are having those problems... you gotta open that bitch up, slap it on the ass and say KNOCK THIS SHIT OFF

Or on most of the time?

I live with my brother in law. Our ps4s are in the same room. We both got them pretty much at launch. I always turn mine off, no rest. He puts his to rest or leaves it on. Mine is silent, his is a jet engine.

If it's inside an entertainment center cabinet or similar it could get a lot of dust built up without you noticing.

If it's open to the air on top of your center it should make for easier cleaning and for you to notice when you should be dusting it off.

Lol thank you for the PSA. I should clean mine out more often. Think I've done it maybe never? And I've had mine since day 1 too and recently has started to over heat

ya thats how it started with mine... if you get the overheat message and the light turns red when you insert a disc and want to play, then you should open that bitch up

you gotta buy a Torx screw kit... Torx T8

also 2 of the screws were stripped on mine, so the Torx T8 couldn't bite it so I used a small flathead and it worked, took awhile to find that out...
