Here is what you need to know.
- You need a 2.5 inch drive
- Consoles bottleneck at memory so the increased seek time of an SSD is negligible.
- It is suggested you match the RPM of your current drive but there is no evidence that it has any negative effects to go over. Theories include an increased RPM increases heat dissipation in the console.
- You don't want an Eco drive. These are drives that spin at a really low RPM to save energy. This could be harmful to your console. Not every brand markets these drives as Eco drives, so be careful what you buy. Some are named Green drives for example.
- Western Digital or WD for short, Samsung, and Seagate make good drives. You can trust those brands.
- Greater than 2tb 2.5inch drives exist but after 2tb it's dicey if it will work in your console.
