Kinda surprised there isn't a thread for this already. PlayStation meeting going on right now showcasing the PS4 pro

Sony going all in this holiday. It appears that the Pro is not as powerful as the Scorpio but it will be interesting to see how releasing the Pro this year works out for them. Putting out 3 new big pieces of hardware is putting a lot of pressure on the company as well as the consumer. If you want a Pro and VR you are looking at almost 1k this fall

I just want a pro and a 4K tv


Not rly Into the vr aspect due my living conditions. Would need to finish up my man cave before I have room for that

From the buzz going around on sony and ms twitter and reddit, it seems more of a gimmick.

Sony is getting slammed by xbox, stating the one s can do everything the pro can, at a 299 price point.

Just take a stroll over to their twitter profile.

It appears that Sony might not actually have native 4k gaming, and instead use some gimmicky upscaler. Confirm? I can't see doubling the gpu power of the ps4 being able to natively run 4k gaming.

suddenly twitter and reddit are software engineers now, pro is going to boost the power advantage standard ps4 had over xb1 for a whole year on the market, by the time scorp launches price drop on pro its over

Sony is taking a HUGE gamble this year. The vast majority of people still do not own a 4k TV. If you don't own a 4k TV then getting a pro is virtually pointless at this point. So if you want to upgrade to a Pro your looking at 1k for a tv,400 for a Pro and then if you want VR that's another what...500?With tax your looking at an almost $2500 price tag to upgrade your console gaming.

I think its a mistake to launch this year as they are basically competing against themselves. Most people can afford the VR or the Pro not both. So you are potentially taking money out of your own pocket. So people might buy a VR and then wait a year for the Pro,and then see next year when the Scorpio is way more powerful then the Pro based on everything that's been put out there.

I will give them credit on how they marketed this in the press conference though. Never once heard them say this is the best console or anything,they marketed it as "the number one place for 4k gaming" meaning that its the most popular,which is true.

i already have a 4k tv, wont be buying vr right away and honestly idk about pro either, i think its decent tho they got a good price point and they did a good job of explaining its not mandatory to upgrade

Not to mention that the Xbox One slim has a 4k blu ray and is already capable of playing games in 4k and HDR AND for $399 can get a Slim with twice the size hard drive as the new Pro. So yes twitter and reddit is right in many aspects that the Xbox One Slim and the PS4 pro are very very close to being equal in terms of power. Hell in some cases the Slim is better then the pro

idk 4k bluray is kinda useless those fuckers are 40$ a pop even i dont buy that shit, we'll see what happens xbox s has not exactly lite the road on fire, i think the ps4 slim being cheaper then a standard ps4 now will see a huge boost in sales for the casual gamer
