Disc spins and eventually signal is lost and am unable to operate the ps4 via controller. Have to hard reset to get it on again. Games work fine. Any insights appreciated. Have tried disabling Internet with no success

Wtf did you do to your system
At first I thought maybe you burnt out your bluray drive
But if it plays ps4 disc games, which are blu rays
Then I'm so confused

I would personally call Sony up and get to the bottom of this
They might have you run it in safe mode and have you reformat your system
Or you can mail it to them and they can repair it for you but that shit ain't free

I had a similar problem with my ps3 a few years ago
But I ended up burning out the bluray drive
Discs wouldn't work for shit, games, movies, you name it
They would spin and spin and just stop

I know you have family members that use your system
I would do some investigating
Maybe someone did something by accident and didn't fess up to it

We just moved and it sat 700 miles in a uhaul. It was strongly protected but still. I don't think anyone did something to it, I was one of the last ones who used it prior to leaving and had no issues. I'll lookup online some more and trouble shoot tomorrow. If still no luck I'll get in touch with Sony x.x

are you trying to just put the disc in and play it without using the media player?
pretty sure u need to use media player

I didn't even think of that lol
I never use my ps4 as a DVD player so I completely forgot about that
So yeah, try downloading the media player app from the ps store bazi

??? I just put disk in and select it like any other game etc.
